Problem:
Overlay on an *AFPDS report prints fine but may be misaligned after being converted to PDF.
Solution:
If the OVERLAY is in the incorrect position:
The probable reason it printed correctly is that the printer shifted the position of the overlay, because it was trying to print in the margins. The customer was getting correct alignment purely by chance.
Check the overlay offsets in the spooled file attributes. If they are 0 down and 0 across, the customer should set them explicitly to values that will put the overlay where it should go.
If the TEXT being merged with the overlay is in the incorrect position:
The probable reason it printed correctly is that the printer is either shifting or no longer shifting the position of the text, due to the printer's margin settings (unprintable margins). The customer was getting correct alignment purely by chance.
Check the front margin offsets for the spooled reports and hardcode in an offset for the text using the OVRPRTF command. If they are 0 down and 0 across, the customer should set them explicitly to values that will put the overlay where it should go.
