Changing APPC Controller Switched Disconnect Status

When using 802.2 APPC router connections to the AS/400, the Switched Diconnect value in the APPC controller description must be set to *NO so the router doesn't disconnect when the router in idle. The following steps describe how to change the Switched Disconnect setting:
1. Find the selected APPC controller using the following AS/400 command:
WRKCFGSTS CFGTYPE(*CTL) CFGD(*ALL)
2. When the selected controller is located, use option 2 to Vary Off the controller.
3. Now use option 8 to work with the object description.
4. From the Work with Controller Description screen, use option 2 to change the controller description. Change the Switched Diconnect value in the APPC controller description must be set to *NO
5. Return to the Work with Configuration Status screen by pressing F12 or using step 1. Use option 1 to Vary On the controller.
After the above steps are completed, the APPC controller should no longer disconnect when the router is idle.
