Installing DataImport

If you have a question or seek clarification, please call Technical Support.

Please follow these instructions carefully to install DataImport. If you experience any difficulties, you can refer to DataImport's Troubleshooting page or contact Technical Support.

NOTE: If you are installing on Windows Server 2003 please read these instructions first.

There are no software products from RJS that must be installed first prior to the install. Corequisites may be installed in any order and must be present prior to running the application. There is no upgrade necessary after installation. Only install this software if your process requires it. For clarification, contact Technical Support.

Installation

These instructions install version 6.0 of DataImport

Read This First

DataImport is designed to be installed on a centralized PC on your network. From there, users can map a drive to this location, and install parts of the program onto their PC. This allows any number users to have DataImport installed, although the concurrent limit is restricted by your license (default 10 users). For more on how licensing works, please read DataImport License.

Step 1: Download

Download DataImport from RJS.

Step 2: Map Drives

From your workstation, map a drive to your server, you'll need to use this drive later, so select "Reconnect at Login". The only time this is not necessary is if DataImport is installed on a stand-alone server with only 1 anticipated connection.

Step 3: Run Setup

Step 4: Info

An introductory panel will be presented. Click Next.

A second panel shows what is new since version 5. Click Next.

Step 5: Select Destination

You will be prompted to select a destination directory. Navigate to the the drive you mapped in Step 1 and select it. If DataImport is only required on the server using it, the default director is acceptable.

Step 6: Registration Information

Please fill in your and your company's names.

Step 7: Select Program Group

Choose where to place shortcuts for DataImport in the Start menu.

Step 8: Install

You are now ready to install. Click Next.

Step 9: Install on Workstations

This is only necessary if you are installing the 10-user LAN version of DataImport. Have each user map the drive in Step 1 to their workstation, and run the setup.exe file. Note: You to have run setup from a mapped drive letter (ex. F:\..\setup.exe), you cannot run \\ServerName\..\setup.exe. The drive must be mapped each time you run DataImport from that workstation.

Step 10: Finish

DataImport has now been installed. Please contact Technical Support for your DataImport License.
