Downloading Reports with WinSpool 98 and Viewing AS/400 Reports with AFP Workbench Viewer

To download AS/400 reports with WinSpool 98 and view AS/400 reports with the AFP Workbench Viewer component of Client Access/400, do the following steps:

Register the AFP Viewer to Open All Files with a .AFP extension

1. From the Windows Explorer go to the following directory: C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\AFPViewr\Data
2. Select and Highlight one of the files with a .AFP extension. Any file will do.
3. Press and hold the "left-shift" key on the keyboard and "right-click" on the selected file.
4. Select the "Open With" menu option from the popup menu.
5. Click the "Other" button and then type in the AFP Viewer command line. It should be similar to the following: C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\AFPViewr\ftdwinvw.exe. Click the "Open" button to save the setting.
6. Check the "Always use this program to open this type of file" option and click OK to save the setting.

Downloading Raw Spool Files for viewing with the AFP Viewer

1. Start WinSpool 98 and retrieve a list of reports by output queue or user ID.
2. Highlight the repohttp://wiki.rjssoftware.com/wiki/skins/common/images/button_bold.png

Bold textrt you want to view by selecting the file name.

1. When the "Download Options" heading appears, select "Unconverted Spool File - AFP" for the "Output Format".
2. Check the "View After Download" option.
3. Highlight the report again.
4. "Right-click" on the report and select the "Download Selected Reports" option from the popup menu.
5. If all goes well, the report should get downloaded and the Client Access/400 AFP Workbench Viewer should be launched automatically.
