Problem:
When using a Microsoft MAPI email client, the user would get an error box which states: "Error Emailing Report: Email Report Server is not Active" when they tried to start the WinSpool Email Report Server. They had the Email Report Server set up as a service to start automatically in Windows NT.
Solution:
When using a MAPI email client, the Email Report Server cannot be run as a service.
Listed below is a solution for starting the Email Report Server automatically when the user logs in to Windows NT:
1) Remove Email Report Server from the Windows NT Services and place a copy of the WSPESR32.EXE shortcut in the Start/Programs/Startup folder.
2) Right click on the icon in the Startup folder and click on Properties.
3) In the Target field, go to the end and place a space and type START in all caps. Then click OK.
Example: C:\WSPBCH32\WSPBCH32.EXE START
This new command line will open the Email Report Server and then start it automatically when the PC is rebooted and a user logs in.
