Problem:

The following error occurs when trying to get a list of reports from an output queue.

Solution:

  • This problem is usually caused when a user doesn't have authority to an output queue, an output queue doesn't exist, or the output queue name and library name were not properly filled in on the Retrieve Output Queue List screen.
  • This can also occur if the user does not have appropriate authority to the WINSPOOL library, or their user ID is set up with Limited Capabilities = *YES
  • There is another possiblity. If the user is on OS/400 V4R3 have them verify the API length. The value should be 88. The value is stored in the data area QLISTLEN in libraries WINSPOOL and RPTSPLIT30. If the value is not 88, prompt on then add WINSPOOL to your library list, prompt on the command WSPLOS, and change the value from 82 to 88, and hit ENTER.

Note: If the QLISTLEN data area is in error, the spool list problem may not occur if the user has only 1 spool file in the selected output queue, but if they put more than 1 spool file in an output queue the error will occur when attempting to list any AS/400 spool files.
