Problem:
User is relaying email messages through their MS Exchange SMTP Server to a Compuserve, MSN or AOL account and not receiving the email messages at the remote Internet mailbox, however when they send an email message via MS Outlook the message arrives correctly.

Potential Resolution from Google Newsgroups: All messages from thread Message 1 in thread From: Colin Coleman (colinc@ndirect.co.uk) Subject: E-Mail on SBS4.5 Gets bounced back to Sender Newsgroups: microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz View this article only Date: 1999/12/06 Every time any client try's to send an email it gets the server dialling out ok through exchange but then the mail gets bounced back to the sender with the following error. For Example if the To: address was support@netdirect.net.uk then the following would be bounced back " Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: To Dave Sent: 06/12/1999 09:17 The following recipient(s) could not be reached: IMCEASMTP-support+40netdirect+2Enet+2Euk@smtp.netdirect.net.uk on 06/12/1999 09:29 The recipient name is not recognized The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=US;a= ;p=CBL;l=CBL01-991206091723Z-4 " As the Client is getting rather Pi**d off not getting any mail out since we installed SBS4.5 we would like to give a fix as soon as possible. Ps yes we did go on the Microsoft SBS course. One assumes that one can login on the Internet from the LAN and that browsing works. With that done, one assumes from what you indicate that this is a modem dialup or DOS router involved? Which? Need to know of the Exchange Server is using a Dial up configuration or full-time connection so that we know if the dialup is being forced by Proxy or Exchange. You will want to ensure that the Outlook doesn't have any other services like Internet Mail Service installed, just the defaults of Exchange Server, Outlook Address Book, and Fax Transport. From the SBS server, one would want to ensure that the ICW has been run at some point. Sending is usually not the problem. The ICW generally gets everything right. For the send to go out, one needs to have the ISP DNS information correct so that the Box for "Forward all mail to:" indicates the ISP mailhost name or the IP address for that mailhost. If you instead selected "Use DNS", then you must place the DNS server name in the Network Panel for DNS servers in TCP/IP protocol setup. I did as Cris says, then selected edit, then selected ROUTING ADDRESS, and made sure no entry was contained therein. (While experimenting, I forgot to remove a prior entry in routing address described as type SMTP and ended up seeing the same text colin describes ... oops. Glad it was client's machine.) Let us know how you clear it up! Thanks.
