Extended Criteria Report Selection is Not Working with the WinSpool/400 Batch Report Server Version 2.0x

Problem:

The customer is trying to use the Extended Report Select option for selecting reports based on Spool File Name, User Data, Form Type, Job Name or User ID and the reports will not get selected even though it appears all the selection criteria has been entered correctly.

Solution:

If an Enter key is pressed while keying information into any of the tables via the grid control used by the 32-Bit Batch Report Server, a Carriage Return/Linefeed character combination is placed into the database field even though the CR/LF is not visible on-screen. The easiest way to make sure there is no invalid information in a database field is to click the mouse to go to the beginning of the field on the grid screen. Hold down the Delete key for about 3 seconds to make sure ALL characters have been erased. Then key in the selection criteria again and TAB out of the field instead of pressing Enter. Now the grid will have the selected information without the CR/LF characters causing any trouble.
