FAQ
From Support
While most of the questions receive are answered on their own pages throughout this wiki, this page is dedicated to the short, informational questions that come up time and time again. We hope these answers save you both time and effort.

Is this information reliable?
The short answer is: yes.
Every article in this wiki has been written by a member of RJS Software System's technical staff. Some of the articles are older and are not marked 'proofread' yet; this is fine, and simply indicates that they were imported from our prior knowledge base system. As we are able, we are cleaning up the text, supplying images and merging documents, and marking them proofread to denote this. Nevertheless, the content itself is good.
General users may view any of the pages on the wiki, but edits require a logon ID, which are not available outside of the technical staff. If you feel you have an addition you would like to make, please contact Technical Support and we can discuss the addition with you.
Moving PC Software
When you have an existing installation of RJS Software on a PC, moving it to a new PC need not be a trial. First, perform a clean install from this website of the software you need. Once this is done and the products are installed, copy the relevant files below over from the original PC's install directory to the new PC's install directory. Finally, please fill out a PC Change Out Request Form and license your products.
All PC Products
- Any .MDB files
- Any .INI files
- Any .RJS files
Some programs require a few extra files to be copied over as well.
RJS Imaging Scan WorkStation
- RJSIMGSCAN.BAS
- toolbarsettings.atb
If you are using OCR
- Any .NXP files
- Any .MAP files
FormDocs
- All .FDT files
- All .TLR files
- Any reference .TXT files
DataImport
- All .MSK files
- Any reference .TXT or .PRN files
5250 Integrator
- RJS5250MACRO.BAS
Please be aware that your users may have saved files in non-standard locations, and that these will need to be found and moved appropriately. In addition, some applications such as RJS Imaging Scan Workstation save copies of the images they scan within subfolders in their install directory. These can be moved over to your new install as well. If in doubt, ask Technical Support.
Checking Your Version
For iSeries libraries
Most libraries of ours have a data area named 'version' that can be viewed to see the current version number. Use the command below:
DSPDTAARA <LIBRARY NAME>/VERSION
For PC products
Most PC products give the version number in the display found under the Help > About menus.
Daylight Savings Time Changes
As a rule, all RJS Products use the current system time for any time-keeping operations. If the host system is set up for the new DST changes, your RJS Products should likewise be fine.
If you are curious about the DST changes, InfoWorld has an informative article on the subject. The only software that these changes will likely affect are those with internal timekeeping, separate from the host system's. For more information, talk to the appropriate software vendors.
OS/400 Upgrade
There is no additional cost incurred with an OS/400 upgrade from RJS Software. Any support required is covered under your maintenance contract.
For those concerned about OS compatibility and are in the process of upgrading, there are only a couple potential conflicts to be aware of. Apart from these, there are no known issues with any of our libraries on any version of OS/400 up to V6R1.
V6R1 Compatibility
Click here for a complete list of libraries that have been determined to be V6R1 compatible.
WinSpool FTP Messages
The first issue in question only applies to the WinSpool/400 Library, and then only when upgrading to V5R3 or above from V5R2 or below. IBM had changed some FTP message handling in V5R3, so the V3.58 library update IS REQUIRED for V5R3 and the WinSpool/400 products. Please use the linked instructions to perform a WinSpool/400 Upgrade.
After the ugrade and before using the software for the first time, a system administrator or security officer user should log on to the AS/400 and run the following commands.
ADDLIBLE WINSPOOL WSPLADDMS
After running these commands, run the following command to make sure message CPFFFFF was created correctly:
WRKMSGD MSGID(CPFFFFF)
If the message displays, you should be ready to begin using the WinSpool/400 software with V5R3.
5 Digit Spool File Numbers
Old versions of our AS/400 software that was compiled on a V4R1 box do not support Spool File numbers greater than 4 digits; please upgrade the relevant library to fix this.
WebDocs Server
If you are still running the old IBM HTTP server instead of Apache, please ensure that you have a working Apache configuration in place before restarting WebDocs on V5R3 or above.
Other than the above, there are no known issues with other libraries on V5R3 & above but it never hurts to upgrade them. Please review the steps in the Upgrade Section for the relevant products.
Hardware Upgrades
Whenever a Serial, model or LPAR number changes on your iSeries, you will require new license codes. Please find your product in the to understand how your license works, and fill out a Change Out Request form to return to us. We retain these forms and use the information submitted to generate your new codes. No additional cost in incurred with changing hardware or generating new licenses provided you are under a maintenance contract.
