Problem:
Getting a > sign in your email messages any time the word From is placed at the beginning of a data line within an email message when Netscape 7 is used as the email client.
Example: >From
Using the SMTP/400 Email Send API SMTPSEND2 command to send email messages.

Solution:
It turns out that the NetScape 7 client or iMail server appears to be adding this character any time the word "From" is found at the beginning of a line. Wierd !
This appears to be a problem with the Netscape 7 client or the iMail SMTP mail server. Please check with Netscape/AOL or IPSWITCH.
