How To open report attachments without going into the Work with Report Document screen

Problem:

The user wants to be able to automatically open a report/file attachment without having to view the "Work with Report Document" screen when working with documents in the AS/400 Report Manager template. This will minimize the mouseclicks required to view a report document.

Solution:

In order to open a report/file attachment automatically when the entry is clicked from the report list views, the "Archived Document" form properties for "Auto Launch" have to be changed. Once "Auto Launch" is enabled, the file attachments will automatically launch when a report is double-clicked in the report document view listing.

Listed below are the general steps for setting the auto launch properties. This should work with either Lotus Notes 4.6 or Lotus Notes 5.0 and above.

1. Launch the Notes Designer and open the AS400RPT.NSF database.
2. Open the "Archived Document" form in the Designer.
3. Right-click on the form and select "Form Properties".
4. Select the tab that has the "Auto Launch" setting on it.
5. Change the "Auto Launch" setting from "-None-" to "-First Attachment-".
6. Close the Designer and save your changes.

Now when a report gets double-clicked from the report list, the report/file attachment will be automatically launched with the appropriate application.
