How to install software on Windows 2003 Server

NOTE: This is very similar to how the old Windows NT Terminal Server used to work. By going through the "Add/Remove Programs" Utility, Windows is changed to be in a sort of "install mode." This will allow OCX controls, DLLs and other files to be installed properly.

Download New Program

Save the desired installation file to your PC. (Remember where you save it!)

Install New Program

Step 1: Open Control Panel

Go to your Control Panel and launch "Add/Remove Programs."

Step 2: Add New Programs

On the left-side menu, click the button labled "Add New Programs."

Step 3: CD/Floppy Wizard

Click the button labeled "CD or Floppy" to launch the "install Program From Floppy Disk or CD-ROM" Wizard.

Step 4: Browse to installer

Click Next and it will browse your Floppy drive and your CD-ROM. Eventually, if there are no discs or diskettes available, it will prompt you to browse to an install.

Step 5: Confirm

Browse to the appropriate install file and click "Finish". NOTE: You may need to change "Files of Type:" option at the bottom

Step 6: Install

Run your install like normal. When done, click "Next" in the Wizard and finally click "Finish."
