Initial Testing Steps for the Lotus Notes Report Server
From Support
For testing on your local PC, do the following:
- Install the Batch Report Server and Notes Report Server.
- In the Batch Report Server Settings, set the following values in the "Edit Output Directory List" screen:
- Make sure a valid directory name is entered for the "Output PC Directory". Do not use C:\ There's a problem with using the root directory. The report gets temporarily sent to this directory before being sent over to the Notes Database. I usually use the C:\WSPBCH32 directory when I am sending reports to Lotus Notes, however this isn't mandatory.
- Check the "Output to Lotus Notes" flag to enable reports to be sent to the Lotus Notes DB.
- The "Lotus Notes Server" field should be set to blanks. You will be using the AS400RPT.NSF file on your hard drive in C:\RJSNOTES for testing.
- The "Lotus Notes Output Database" should be set to: C:\RJSNOTES\AS400RPT.NSF
- Make sure to go to File/Settings and check the "Enable Send to Lotus Notes Report Server" setting and restart the program before trying to send any reports to Lotus Notes.
The next time you start the Batch Report Server, the downloaded reports for the selected directory should get sent over to the Lotus Notes database. If you get a 7063 error from the Batch Report Server it usually means the path was set incorrectly for finding the AS400RPT.NSF database. The above settings were for copying reports to the Notes database on your local hard drive.
If the user is putting the database on their Notes Server, they need to fill in their Notes Server name in the "Lotus Notes Server" setting and the database name in the "Lotus Notes Output Database" field.
The Notes Server name can be determined from the Lotus Notes Client software by using the following menus: File/Database/Open. The server name can be determined by using the dropdown list for server name. It IS case sensitive, so be careful when entering the server name into the Batch Report Server.
For entering the correct path to the AS400RPT.NSF file on the notes server, use the File/Database/Open menus to select the correct server name and also to find the AS/400 Report Manager Database (AS400RPT.NSF). Once the database if found, highlight the entry by clicking on the AS/400 Report Manager database with the mouse. Set the "Lotus Notes Output Database" field to the database name. If the AS400RPT.NSF file has been copied correctly to the NOTES\DATA directory you should only need to enter AS400RPT.NSF for the "Lotus Notes Output Database".
