Problem:
Invalid File Format
Solution:
Prior to 5.0g of DataImport, if a previously installed program put DLL's or VBX's into the wrong directory, DataImport's installation program would mistakenly install it's copies of the DLL's and VBX's to the directory where DataImport was installed. This was corrected in version 5.0g.
However, it is still possible to encounter the 'Invalid File Format' message. This is due to one of two things...
1. Another program has installed old or bad DLL's or VBX's to the windows/system/ directory.
2. Another program has installed DLL's or VBX's to the wrong directory.
We have found a few programs that are guilty of this. Humorously, the culprit is frequently a Microsoft product (whom, of all companies, you'd think would know where to put it's DLL's).
Solution
Using either Explorer (Win95) or File Manager (Win3.x) find ALL OCCURANCES of the following files:
- commdlg.dll
- cmdialog.vbx
- menuev3.vbx
- threed.vbx
- vbmsg.vbx
- call32.dll
- ctl3dv2.dll
- pxengwin.dll
- compobj.dll
- storage.dll
- msajt112.dll
- msajt200.dll
- vbdb300.dll
1. There should only be ONE copy of the above files on your machine. If you have multiple copies of one of the above files, delete all but the newest one.
2. All of the above files should be in your /windows/system/ directory. If they are not there, move them there.
If you have followed the above steps, the 'Invalid File Format' message will cease.
