Problem:
User gets the following error message box when attempting to send a report directly to MS Word from WinSpool 98 if WinSpool 98 is started after Microsoft Outlook:
"Word Cannot open this document template" C:\Program Files\...\STARTUP\TBRUN97.DOT
The next error message shown says:
"Word cannot open the existing "[]
The next error message shown says:
Error Sending Report to Word "-2147024895 Automation Error"
No errors occur if WinSpool 98 is started prior to starting Microsoft Outlook.
Solution:
It appears that when MS Word is launched in this fashion on a PC that has had the Xerox Textbridge Software loaded on it, the errors listed above can possibly occur. File TBRUN97.DOT is part of the Xerox Textbridge software. This IS NOT a problem caused by WinSpool 98. The problem is being caused by the Xerox Textbridge software startup.
You will need to find out where file TBRUN97.DOT resides and what the template file is used for. You can use the Windows 95/NT file find feature to locate this template or you can check directory: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\STARTUP Once the file has been located, move it to a temporary area other than the Microsoft Office Startup folder and then exit and restart WinSpool 98 and Microsoft Outlook and attempt to send a file to MS Word from WinSpool 98. If it works, the problem is resolved. If not, you will need to further investigate where file TBRUN97.DOT comes from and what its purpose is. More information regarding the Textbridge software can be obtained from the Xerox Web Site http://www.xerox.com
