Printing the Same Electronic Form using multiple form overlays

With WinSpool/400 Electronic Forms V1.0.13 and above, users can now print a single electronic form using multiple form overlays.

Why would someone want to do this ?

The best example to give would be printing multiple copies of an invoice such as a white copy, yellow copy and pink copy for the customer. When printing, these different colored forms may be in a different printer tray or a different printer altogether, yet the customer wants them all to print from a single spool file downloaded from the AS/400.

How to Enable Multiple Overlay Support

1.) Update the WinSpool Electronic Forms Print Server to V1.0.13 or above.

2.) In the "Edit Output Directory List" screen for the print server there are now three additional fields titled: Additional Form 2, Additional Form 3 and Additional Form 4. Enter the value of a form overlay you would like to print right after the regular spool file get printed from the AS/400.

Example of printing multiple overlays from the RJS sample INVOICE spool file

- Create a copy of INVOICE.FOM in the C:\WSPEFORM directory and name it INVOICE2.FOM

- Create an entry in the "Edit Output Directory List" and enable the "Use Extended Select" check box and enter INVOICE for the "Spool File Name" to insure this entry is only used with the spool file named: INVOICE.

- In the same output directory list entry, enter INVOICE2 in the "Additional Form 2" field.

- Create an AS/400 test report called INVOICE in the output queue you're using. You can use the following AS/400 command to do so: WINSPOOL/WSPTEST1

- Make any changes necessary in the INVOICE.FOM and INVOICE2.FOM eletronic form files using the Form Designer. You can change form layout information as well as page settings to tell each form to print to a different printer tray or even a different printer.

- Run the WinSpool/400 Electronic Forms print server and both INVOICE and INVOICE2 should get created and printed to their specified locations.
