RPC server unavailable when running as a service

Problem:

Error: "RPC server unavailable" when launching WinSpool/400 Email Report Server as a Service from Windows NT. Able to start it manually okay, but when changing it to automatic and reboot the PC you receive an error message. The message is "RPC server unavailable". This occurs after the system operator logs onto the PC, but before the login completes.

Solution:

For the NT Service, place a Z- at the beginning of the Service Name and that should resolve the service startup problem. Windows NT starts services alphabetically.
