Problem:

Customers using MS Exchange for email were receiving mail relaying errors when sending reports via SMTP and the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server.

Solution:

Install and use the following Email Report Server updates to use SMTP authentication when sending email messages via MS Exchange or any other SMTP server that has SMTP authentication enabled.

1.) Version 6.0 OCX Updates must be applied before installing V3.0.59 or future versions of the Email Report Server software. The updates can be obtained from the following web link: http://www.rjssoftware.com/files/v6ocxupd.exe

2.) Download and install the RJS Secure SMTP API installation V 1.0.1 or above. The updates can be obtained from the following web link: http://www.rjssoftware.com/files/rjssmtpau.exe

3.) Download and install the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server update V3.0.59 or above. The updates can be obtained from the following web link: http://www.rjssoftware.com/files/rjsesrup.exe

4.) To enable the use of secure SMTP, start the Email Report Server and go to the File/Settings screen and make the following setting changes:

"Use Secure SMTP Email Server" - ENABLED

"Enter an email user and password" for the SMTP authentication in the mail user id and password settings.

5.) Exit and restart the Email Report Server and the software will now use SMTP authentication when sending reports via email.
