Overview
In order to use the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server with the Eudora Pro Internet Email client, the following steps should to be accomplished:
Download Eudora
The Eudora Pro V3.0 or later software must be installed on the same PC which will run the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server software. Eudora Pro can be downloaded from the following Web Site: Eudora
MAPI Setup
1. Since the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server uses the MAPI interface to send Email, you must run the SWMAPI.EXE program in the Eudora software directory (Usually C:\EUDORA) to Install the Eudora version of the MAPI interface. After running SWMAPI.EXE, simply click the Install Eudora MAPI System button to install the Eudora version of MAPI.DLL and MAPI32.DLL.
2. Eudora must now be configured to use the MAPI interface. Start Eudora and go to the Tools/Options menu. When the options screen comes up, find the MAPI category. Change the MAPI category settings as follows:
a.) Use Eudora MAPI Server: Always b.) Delete MAPI Attachments: When message emptied from Trash
Eudora is now ready for MAPI use !!!
Optimizing Eudora for Sending Reports
1. To make Eudora more efficient when used with a dialup Internet provider or a slow modem connection (14.4, 28.8, etc...), Eudora can be configured to actually send new Email messages only when Email is checked. The default option sends each message as soon as Eudora receives the message.
To change the Sending Mail settings, Start Eudora and go to the Tools/Options menu. When the options screen comes up, find the Sending Mail catagory. Disable the Immediate Send setting so mail is only sent when Email is checked.
2. To automate the send/receive mail process with Eudora, the Checking Mail setting should be changed. Note: This setting is especially useful when a dialup Internet connection will be used to send/receive Email.
To change the Checking Mail settings, Start Eudora and go to the Tools/Options menu. When the options screen comes up, find the Checking Mail category. Change the Check mail every 0 minutes setting to check mail every 10-30 minutes, or whatever you determine to be an appropriate time interval. Once enabled, Eudora can now automatically send/receive Internal mail and Internet or Dialup Internet Email at selected intervals.
After all the above steps are completed, the Eudora Pro Email software should be optimally configured for use with the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server software.
