Setting up WinSpool/400 Batch Report Server to Send Email Notifications

The following instructions will enable the WinSpool/400 Batch Report Server software to send email notifications after a report has been downloaded to a LAN directory.

Installing Windows Common Controls Version 6.0 - (Required) 1.) Download and install the Version 6.0 Windows Common Control OCX Files from our web site: http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/v6ocxupd.exe.

Installing RJS SMTP Email API 1.) Download and install the RJS SMTP Email API from our web site: http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjssmtpu.exe.

• • Note: currently only SMTP emailing is supported.

Installing Batch Report Server Updates 1.) Download and install WinSpool/400 Batch Report Server V2.0.84 and above from the following link: http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjsbchup.exe

Setting Up Batch Report Server to email report notifications 1.) Start the Batch Report Server program by selecting "Start/Program Files/WinSpool Batch Report Server/Batch Report Server" from the windows desktop.

2.) Go to the "File/Settings/Email Links" tab.

3.) Check the "Email Document Links to Report" setting to enable emailng report notifications.

4.) Check the "Use SMTP Email Server" to enable the SMTP email API.

5.) Enter the outbound SMTP server address, from email address and set the SMTP timeout setting to 30.

6.) Click OK to save the settings. Exit and restart the Batch Report Server program.

7.) From the main window, select "Table Entry/Edit Output Directory List".

8.) If you wish to send an email notification after a particular report entry has been used, enter a "Notification Email Address" in the output directory entry.

• • Note: Only one internet email address or internet group address may be entered in this field.

Run the Batch Report Server as usual. Email notifications will now be mailed after reports are downloaded.

Version 2.0.90 Update Enable the "Send Generic Text Email Notification" setting on the Email Links setting screen and a generic message with the location of the downloaded files will be sent.
