Trying to launch a .SPL document with Internet Explorer 4.0 or 5.0 and WinView/400 software wont automatically launch

Problem:
It appears that Internet Explorer trys to open a text file in a standard window instead of launching the associated application, which in the case of a report file with the .SPL extension is WinView/400.
A seconday problem can occur with Internet Explorer trying to launch WinView/400 as a Future Splash Application. There is a product called Future Splash that also uses the .SPL extension.

Solution:
Send files to users in zipped format with the .ZSP extension. Internet Explorer 4.0 & 5.0 should then try to open the associated application which will be WinView/400
