Problem:

Some customers have had problems getting accurate results with the DataImport Report Converter DLL and would like to use the DataImport EXE in conjunction with the WinSpool Email Report Server and the DataImport Report Converter.

The most prevalent problem we have seen is that when installed on a Windows 2000 PC with the Japanese language, Excel conversions can get corrupted where the XLS files generated are not readable.

A few other users have reported issues with Reference Points and Line Tags.

These problems all seem to be isolated to the DataImport Report Converter DLL, so we have modified the DataImport Report Converter to allow it to call the DataImport EXE when running a spreadsheet translation.

Solution:

1.) Install the Visual Basic 6.0 OCX files from the RJS web site. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/v6ocxupd.exe

2.) Install the DataImport Report Converter V1.0.3 update or above from the RJS web site. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjsdiwup.exe

3.) Install the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server V3.0.65 or above from the RJS web site. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjsesrup.exe

4.) Open the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server program and then exit the program right away. This will create the new INI settings in the WSPESR32.INI file.

5.) Change the following INI settings in the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server INI file (WSPESR32.INI) to tell the Email Report Server and DataImport Report Converter to call the DataImport EXE when converting to spreadsheet formats.

Note: These settings can only be accessed by editing the WSPESR32.INI file with Windows Notepad or any other text editor. DIWEXEPATH=C:\DIW (Or the drive letter when you've installed DataImport) DIWUseEXE=1 (0=Use DataImport Report Converter DLL for translations., 1=Use DataImport EXE for translations.) DIWWindowsMode=1 (Always leave this setting = 1)

6.) Exit and restart the WinSpool Email Report Server for changes to take effect. All reports converted with the DataImport Report Converter should now work correctly.
