Using WinSpool/400 Postscript to PDF Converter and Adobe Distiller

The following steps are required to use the WinSpool/400 Postscript to PDF Converter in conjunction with the WinSpool/400 Electronic Forms Print Server to convert Postscript Electronic forms to PDF and re-spool the PDF to the AS/400 for emailing or archiving. Postscript forms are usually created with products such as CreatePrint other Postscript printer drivers

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING - (You may already have some of these items installed.)

1.) Adobe Acrobat Distiller V4.0 or above must be loaded on the PC.

2.) Install the Visual Basic 5.0 Runtimes on the PC. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/vb5run.exe

3.) Install the WinSpool/400 Report Download Software on the PC. The WinSpool/400 API is used by the WinSpool/400 Electronic Form Print Server to download reports for conversion. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjswsp32.exe Unzip password: WINTER99 (Case Sensitive)

4.) Install the WinSpool/400 TCP/IP API Update V1.2.28 or above http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjstcpup.exe

5.) Install the WinSpool/400 Electronic Forms Print Server software. http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjseform.exe Unzip password: FORM2000 (Case Sensitive)

6.) If you don't already have it, download WinSpool/400 Electronic Form Print Server V1.0.23 or above update from the web site. http://www.rjssoft.com/FILES/rjsfrmup.exe

7.) Make sure the WINSPOOL library has been loaded on the AS/400 system.

8.) If this data area does not exist in the WINSPOOL library, create data area WSPDISTILL with the following command on your AS/400: CRTDTAARA DTAARA(WINSPOOL/WSPDISTILL) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(50)

9.) Enter the WinSpool/400 Postscript to PDF access code provided by RJS.

10.) Enable the "Enable Postscript to PDF via Distiller" setting from the File/Settings screen in WinSpool Electronic Forms Print Server.

11.) Enable the "Enable 1024 byte command lines" setting from the File/Settings screen in WinSpool Electronic Forms Print Server..

12.) Disable the "Enable Reform Report Conversion" setting in WinSpool Electronic Forms Print Server since you're not using the RJS electronic forms product. You will only be using the print server.

13.) Use "PSC" as the output type for the output queue in the "Edit Output Queue List" Screen.

14.) On the "Edit Form Print Output Directory List" screen, enter the following values for the selected entry:

Print Copies - 1

Spool to Output Queue - Enabled

Dest Output Queue - Enter an output queue name where the PDF file will get spooled into.

Library - Enter the output queue library name.

Output type - PDF

Now when you run the WinSpool Electronic Forms Print Server and you place Postscript reports into the selected output queue, they will be automatically downloaded and respooled to the selected output queue for mailing or archival.

Emailing Converted Postscript Reports wit the Native or PC Based Email Report Server 1.) To deliver these reports directly from the AS/400, you must have the Email Report Server/400 V1.67 or above. The Email Report Server automatically selects converted Postscript reports and mails them because they will have an output priority in the AS/400 output queue of 9 and a user defined data value that starts with: EXT:PDF

2.) To deliver these reports from the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server, you must have the WinSpool/400 Email Report Server/400 V3.0.74 or above. The Email Report Server automatically selects converted Postscript reports and mails them because they will have an output priority in the AS/400 output queue of 9 and a user defined data value that starts with: EXT:PDF http://www.rjssoftware.com/FILES/rjsesrup.exe
