Using WinView/400 to Netscape Navigator V3.0x Email

When WinView/400 is installed on a PC it automatically assumes the .SPL file extension for uncompressed reports and .ZSP for compressed reports.

NetScape 3.0 and below require a helper application to be registered in order to view Email file attachments. In order to use WinView/400 as a NetScape helper program, follow the steps listed below to register WinView with Netscape

Registering ZSP Extension Type

1. Start up Netscape and select the Options/General Preferences Menu.
2. From the Preferences screen, click on the Helper tab to display a list of helper applications.
3. Click the Create New Type button.
4. In the Mime Type Field enter: application
5. In the Mime SubType Field enter: zsp
6. Click the OK button to return to the Preferences screen.
7. In the File Extensions Field enter: ZSP
8. For the Action option check the Launch the Application option.
9. In the application command line (located right below the Action check box.), enter the following: c:\winview\winview.exe

Registering the SPL Extension Type

Note: It is recommended that you use compressed files when sending reports to Netscape 3.0 users, so we don't typically recommend registering the SPL extension with Netscape 3.0. If you need to do so, follow the settings in the Registering ZSP Extension Type screen and substitute the extension SPL every place ZSP is used.
