Listed below are the steps that should be followed to use a custom user defined program to program such as Monarch for DOS with the Email Report Server V3.0.x to convert reports to spreadsheet or database formats.

1.) In the "Edit Output Queue/Email Recipient" Screen for the Email Report Server a default command line for the custom program or command should be specified in the "Custom User API Command Line" Field. The example listed below assumes the user is using Monarch and Monarch is located in a directory name C:\Program Files\Monarch\Program and the Input File, Output File and Mask File names will be substituted at runtime by the Email Report Server.

C:\Program Files\Monarch\Program\MONARCH.EXE @INPUTFILE @MASKFILE @OUTPUTFILE

The following keywords can be used for substitution into the command line: @MASKFILE - DataImport or DIW Mask File/Monarch Mask File @MASKOUTPUTTYPE - DataImport or DIW Mask Output Type/Monarch Output Type @INPUTFILE - Input PC File @OUTPUTFILE - Output PC File @SPOOL - Spool File @USERDATA - Spool File User Data @JOBNAME - Spool File User Data @FORMTYPE - Spool File User Data

2.) "API" should be specified in the "Output Format" field for each email recipient. 3.) The Monarch or DataImport Mask File name should be specified in the "DataImport Mask File Name" field for each email recipient. 4.) The file extension for the selected file type should be entered into the "DataImport Output Data Type" field for each email recipient. The following file types are valid with Monarch for DOS/Windows: Extension/File Format DBF - dBASE III TXT - Fixed length ASCII WKS - 1-2-3 Release 1, 1A WK1 - 1-2-3 Release 2.0, 2.01, 2.2 WK3 - 1-2-3 Release 3.0, 3.1 XLS - MS Excel (Any other) - Delimited ASCII

Note:When creating masks for use with the Monarch translation process, first download the report files with WinSpool 98 and use the following format: ASCII Text - Print Control *PRTCTL If you don't download and create the masks using a report with AS/400 Print Control Characters the Email Report Server will not convert the report correctly with Monarch because the columns will not line up correctly.
