Use the following instructions for your WebDocs - iSeries Edition upgrade.

If you encounter any problems, please contact Technical Support

This upgrade will bring WebDocs - iSeries Edition to version 3.20.00
For help finding what version you are currently at, please read the FAQ

NOTE: These instructions assume you're using the Apache web server with server name APACHEDFT.

  • If you are running a different server, or if it has a different name, please change the commands as needed.
  • If you have custom exit programs or custom command defaults, you will have to recreate the programs and/or rerun the CHGCMDDFT command.
As of version 3.17, the licensing for WebDocs iSeries has changed. Please contact Technical Support for a revised license prior to upgrading

Before You Upgrade

  • Have your local administrator notify users that WebDocs will be down during the upgrade: this includes people using RJS Imaging Scan Workstation, users of the browser interface, Batch Import Utility and any else that interacts with WebDocs.
  • Use option 25 of WebDocs menu to check subsystem QHTTPSVR for instances of HTTP server running and end the instance that is running WebDocs.
  • Execute WRKOBJLCK RJSIMAGE/RJSIMAGE *MENU to get an idea whether anyone is using objects in library RJSIMAGE
  • Use the CPYLIB command to make a copy of your current RJSIMAGE library. Use a naming convention that is clear to you: perhaps RJSIMGMMDD, for example, where MM is the month and DD is the day.
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. Failure to rename or make a copy of the RJSIMAGE library will overwrite all data concerning your stored files (document types, index keys, etc)
  • If you have modified the RJSIMAGE library to use your own exit programs, please contact Technical Support prior to proceeding.

Upgrade

1. Download the WebDocs library from RJS.

Username = *********
Password = ***********

2. Use FTP Library Installation to install Image Server/400 library (RJSIMAGE) onto System i.

Click Unzip

Unzip the file to the default location.

FTP Install

Enter your System i IP Address, username and password.

Take each numbered step, waiting until the previous step is finished before continuing.

You will see an Error 550. This is normal behavior. If you see any additional errors please contact Technical Support.

3. Add RJSIMAGE to your library list and run the upgrade command to copy the old data areas and databases to the upgraded library.

ADDLIBLE RJSIMAGE
DOCUPG RJSIMG1120
  • If Packet Printing is installed, you will see compile messages for it
  • Groups defined in user definition become primary groups when upgrading from pre-v3 to v3
If the OS version is 6.1 or higher, you need to run object conversion over RJSIMAGE.
STROBJCVN RJSIMAGE

4. Use option 20 on the WebDocs menu to install the updated web site files.

If you have customized the web interface to WebDocs, read the following instructions carefully

Custom Interface: You will need to backup the RJSIMAGE folder mentioned above prior to running option 20. Rename it to something simple (like RJSIMAGEV1, or similar).

REN OBJ('/www/apachedft/htdocs/RJSIMAGE') NEWOBJ('RJSIMAGEV1')

Otherwise, proceed with option 20.

GO RJSIMAGE
20

Restore Image IFS Directory

5. Again, please only proceed if you are certain that you have no exit programs in use. Please call Technical Support if you have your own customized exit programs or if you are unsure, and we will talk you through the few extra steps that are necessary to make a seamless upgrade.

6. Use option 27 of WebDocs menu to start the HTTP instance that runs WebDocs
