WinSpool 98 Security INI Settings

In the situation where a generic AS/400 router signon is used to connect to the AS/400, security problems can arise when using the WinSpool/400 software. The INI settings listed below can help to secure a user from accessing unauthorized report information. The INI settings can be found in the WINSPL98.INI file in the C:\WINSPL32 directory for WinSpool/400 98. They must be changed using Windows Notepad or any other ASCII editor.
1. chgset - To disable the ability for the user to change WinSpool/400 settings, this value must be set to 0 (chgset=0) To enable the ability for the user to change WinSpool/400 settings, this value must be set to 1 (chgset=1)
2. chgoutq - To disable the ability for the user to select an output queue to view, this value must be set to 0 (chgoutq=0) To enable the ability for the user to select an output queue to view, this value must be set to 1 (chgoutq=1)
3. chgsplf - To disable the ability for the user to view a list of reports by user ID, this value must be set to 0 (chgsplf=0) To disable the ability for the user to view a list of reports by user ID, this value must be set to 1 (chgsplf=1)
4. security - To allow the user to use WinSpool/400 based on the router User ID, this value must be set to 0 (security=0) To force the user to enter a User ID/Password when using WinSpool/400, this value must be set to 1 (security=1)
