Problem:
WinView/400 Causes Overflow Error When Used on PCs in Other Countries
Solution:
Evidently there is a problem with WinView/400 under Windows 95 and possibly Windows NT when different Regional Settings are specified other than English (United States). The Regional Settings can be checked by looking in the Windows Control Panel for the Regional Settings icon.
The problem occurs when a file is opened for viewing with WinView/400. The program generates an Overflow 6 Error. Normally the Page Redraw Factor setting is defaulted to 1.3. When Regional Settings other than English (United States) are used, WinView/400 is dropping the decimal point and making the Page Redraw Factor setting 13 instead of 1.3 when the WinView/400 program is started, thus generating the error.
A workaround for the problem is to specify a value of 1 or 2 instead of 1.3 in the Page Redraw Factor setting. After changing this setting, the problem should disappear.
So far we have not determined why the Visual Basic 3.0 environment drops the decimal point from double precision number settings when different Regional Settings are used, but the workaround should resolve any occurrence of the problem.
